Speck Mountain

Speck Mountain ist die „ambient soul“ Band von Karl Briedrick und Marie-Claire Balabanian aus Chicago. Karl und Marie provozieren sich gegenseitig mit intuitiven, gekräuselten Melodien, auseinandergezogenen Strukturen und spitzen, stolzierenden Rhythmen – und das bezieht sich ausschließlich auf die Gitarren. Die intensive Stimme von Marie-Claire prägt die Songs genau so wie ihre Liebe zu alten Effekten und Aufnahmemöglichkeiten. Sind ihre Studioaufnahmen subtil und detailverliebt, so wirken ihre Konzerte fast schon atmosphärisch hypnotisierend.
