Escapologists
The Escapologists come originally
from the UK and Argentina, via France, Germany and the
Netherlands. They are now are based in Nottingham, UK
where they write and perform in a community of musicians
including Sea Change, Savoy Grand and Amusement Parks
On Fire. Escapologists formed in 2003 when previous
members of The Noise Cartel (1997-2000) - Neil Wells
(bass + vocals), Pete Fletcher (guitar), and Edward
Earl (piano) - were reunited after detours through Hardcore
Techno, Post-Rock and electro. New boy Argentinean drummer
Jorge, who arrived from the Cabaret in Paris, joined
them to complete the line-up. In 2004 they recorded
the 'Starlight' EP which shows a darker side to their
music. Shortly after this, Edward left along with his
piano and the Escapologists became lighter and faster.
And so, with new inspiration at the end of 2004, the
remaining trio stopped gigging and devoted themselves
to writing and recording an album at their studio. 14
months later, they came out with their album: 'In Free
Motion'. The wonderful Devil Duck Records released it
in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the end of October
2006 following Escapologists two-week tour supporting
their good friends Sea Change across these countries.
