Francis
International Airport
Francis International Airport
- an illustrious name, which might arouses associations
with the airport of a well-known computer game, at least
among those who are into videogames. For other, rather
musically interested people, who have a liking for charming
guitar-pop and broad arrangements, this fall might turn
the term into a synonym for well-produced and thought-out
tunes straight out of Austria. While producing their
debut album "We Are Jealous, We Are Glass" completely
on their own, in a small studio based in their hometown
Hohenberg, the center of attention when recording the
"always difficult second release", was shifted to a
high-class production full of finesse and diversity.
Inspired by the current releases of Beach House and
Grizzly Bear, Markus Zahradnicek, David Zahradnicek,
Georg Tran, Christian Hölzel and Manuel Riegler, the
five friends who constitute Francis International Airport
and now partly live in Vienna, spent all their savings
and a lot of sweat for shaping their sequel "In the
Woods", a dreamy record full of atmospherical density.
They managed to create a record which makes them sound
international, located somewhere between the hip neighborhood
of Brooklyn/ New York or Camden Town/London, rather
than coming from a small town somewhere in Lower Austria.
The 11 songs unify a colorful mix of varying moods between
lovely-melancholic and totally energetic. "In the Woods",
which had just been released on Siluh Records, is the
perfect soundtrack for the upcoming fall and the promising
future of these young musicians.
