Kreidler
Early in 1994 Kreidler was
founded by Thomas Klein, Andreas Reihse, Detlef Weinrich
and Stefan Schneider on bass guitar who was to leave
Kreidler some years later in order to form To Rococo
Rot; his place was taken by Alex Paulick (now of Coloma)
up until 2001. Kreidler's album Riva was released 1994
on a small Parisian label. This was to be the first
of 16 releases to date, with the latest Eve Future Recall
(2004). Followed by the score for the movie Durchfahrtsland
in 2006. Among the artists to have been remixed by Kreidler
are such venerable names as Faust, Einstürzende Neubauten,
Depeche Mode, and Appliance. Their musical collaborations
include Add (N) to X, Young Gods, Momus, Leo Garcia,
Theo Altenberg, Pyrolator, or Chicks on Speed. Kreidler
have played over 300 shows throughout Europe, Asia and
North America. In techno clubs and concert halls. At
the Sonar and Roskilde festivals. In museums and art
galleries. At the Van Dijk retrospective in Antwerp
and the openings of Andreas Gursky in New York's Museum
of Modern Art and in the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Commissioned
by Goethe Institut they went on a concert tour in Southeast
Asia. Kreidler contributed to catalogues such as Deutsch
- Young German Photography, Toit du Monde, and Romantik.
They are regulary guests at video art festivals; their
clips were screened e.g. in Barcelona, Valencia, Baden-Baden,
and Munich. Au-Pair won a prize for 2nd place at the
1999 video awards of Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen,
with La Casa reaching the final round of the MuVi Awards
in 2002. Their music has graced the catwalks e.g. of
Chanel, Lacoste, or at the London Fashion Week of Giles
Deacon. It is used in films, theatre-plays or in modern
dance productions e.g. Pina Bausch's Ten Chi. For Alexandra
Sell's acclaimed movie Durchfahrtsland/Remote Area/Terre
de Transit Kreidler composed about 40 minutes of music.
In March 2011, Kreidler are
going to release their newest work entitled TANK on
their new label, Hamburg based Bureau B (Faust, Like
A Stuntman). After gathering for a 3-day-lasting session
at Berlin's Festsaal Kreuzberg in June 2010, the album
was recorded in Tobias Levin's Electric Avenue Studios
in September 2010. The intent was to create a record
with the spirit of Rock n' Roll, of live energy captured
on a medium. On the one hand, seen as kind of a contiuation
of their previous release Mosaik 2014, TANK also constitutes
kind of a break with the younger past, rather orientating
or reminding of their very early works like Riva in
1994 - Kreidler as a group of four people with a distinct
role perception and simple but clearly structured songs.
