PelzigPelzig

Germany 2004. what is still safe these days? The summer is colder than last year's, the chancellor adopts a russian child, don't mention the european cup, and the gentry marches the streets again on mondays - we are the people, indecisive, discontent and hold on. what is it all about anyway? Safety, more than ever. Security. Excitement. Predictable parameters. It is about small units rather than great confusion. For example family. Or Pelzig. or both in one. "Safe in its place". The agenda. But also the fourth album, and once again as a foursome. Back to the future, same constellation as in the beginning. The drummer of several years, Kaspar, is not part of it any more. Pelzig is once again the people that have known each other for more than ten years, and make music together. In this world, with this world and against this world. Not that it would make the world a better place. And particularly not the problems or the anger of the individuals in such a microcosm. But Pelzig feels saner and more honest than ever, in pain and joy, in noise and silence. One can hear it in the new record. Compact they are and coherent, the ten songs pounding from the speakers. There was no fiddling or piecemeal during the recording as erstwhile, the album was cut and dry already in the practice room, or in other terms "Safe in its place". Pelzig are a force to recon with. Not only when it comes to translating dispositions into words or music but also when these exact words and this exact music is married in dignity and with great skill to form a strong union. Krautrock? No. Rather grumpiness and power from Bavaria. Honest and meaty, grouchy and straightforward, unpretentious and indestructible, with a seal of approval for love. Everyone should come to terms with it in his own way. Germany 2004. One thing is for sure: Pelzig are back. They cleaned up the mess and fire back. With their unique ammunition, which sometimes hurts, often just tickles. Always contributing to the well-being of the masses. Or to speak with René: 'We always sort out something. Also in the future.' Full on.
