The Juan Maclean
Name giver for “The Juan MacLean” is John MacLean, former guitarist of the rock and post-punk band “Six finger Satellite“ from USA. After “Six fingers Satellite” disband, MacLean retired for some years from the music business. As a friend founded the influential dance-punk label DFA Records he persuaded MacLean to return to the music. Thereupon he began to experiment with modern electronic mix equipments.
He describes his music as Indie, Electronica and Dance-Punk. He was influenced by DAF, Throbbing Gristle, Boney M, Kraftwerk and Daft punk.
As vocalist, Nancy Whang of Soundsystem LCD joined. In addition, for live performances, join Nicholas Millhiser, Eric Broucek and drummer Jerry Fuchs the band. In 2002 “The Juan MacLean” fully started all-out for the first time. The single "By the Time I get to Venus" celebrated big success in the Electro-scene. The debut album “Less than Human” takes some more time and eventually was released in 2005. Afterwards he remixed for music colleagues like David Gahan, Daft punk and Air. The digital remixed album “Visitations” was released in 2006. His newest work “The Future Will Come” will come out in April, 2009. It owns, in contrast to the previous albums, more song and pop structures and is convincing with “crisp” and brief songs. Already last year two singles of the album, “Happy House“ and “The simple Life“, celebrated international success. They were declared to hits and as critical year-end favorite. There followed tours with “Cut Copy” and “Shocking Pinks”.
