Triggerfinger
Triggerfinger play the main stages
of well known Benelux festivals like Pinkpop and Rock
Werchter and sell out legendary venues like the Paradiso
in Amsterdam and the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels (three
days in a row). Moreover, they already gained the attention
of the German audiences this summer by performing at
festivals like Haldern Pop, Rheinkultur and the Burg
Herzberg Festival. With the release of their third longplayer
"All This Dancin' Around", which has been recorded at
the renowned Sound City Studios in L.A. (where icons
like Nirvana, Metallica or Neil Young already recorded)
and co-produced by Greg Gordon (Wolfmother, Slayer),
Triggerfinger once more establish themselves among the
most fascinating and manifold rock-bands in recent years.
When thinking about Belgian rock music, there are only
a few names, immediately coming to mind. dEUS of course,
Soulwax too and in the last years also the powerful
garage rock duo The Black Box Revelation and then it's
already getting difficult to continue. But with the
release of "All This Dancin' Around" Triggerfinger make
finally completely clear that there is no longer a way
around them. Because Triggerfinger have passion, Triggerfinger
have Grandezza, Triggerfinger have the groove and their
distinctive style. That's not only hardrock, but also
has rockabilly- and blues-influences, responsible for
the pinch of madness in their sound and comparable with
movies like "Lost Highway". It's more about atmosphere
than explanations. Luckily, Triggerfinger don't have
the abstruse bulkiness of a David Lynch movie but only
devote themselves to lunacy to a well measured extent.
An important component, not to be underestimated, when
considering the routine on stage, as well as in the
studio, is their experience: Both Ruben Block and drummer
Mario Goossens (who also produced a lot of Belgian newcomer-bands
like The Black Box Revelation), are almost 40 years
old and bass-player Paul van Bruystegem is already over
50. But those who expect soft rock ballads for the older
Rolling-Stones-Generation, should prepare themselves
for an enormous surprise because Triggerfinger rock
as if there were no tomorrow. But if you still need
to make comparisons, you'll need a whole armada of references.
CCR, Masters Of Reality or The Black Keys - but also
Queens Of The Stone Age, who are a good clue to the
buzzing guitar-stunners on "All This Dancin' Around"
which are kicking in with some surprises. In "I'm Coming
For You", Triggerfinger bow to Wolfmother and therefore
Led Zeppelin. In the bombastic "Without A Sound", they
enter a universe of sounds, reminding of the brilliant
Brand New. To sum up, singer and guitar player Ruben
Block describes it as followed: "We are a loud and intensive
band. But it's easy to make loud music: You just turn
up the amp. But to maintain the groove and sex of the
music, that's the art. When a Triggerfinger concert
begins, it's as if a crazy thunderstorm would break
out." Everyone who has seen Triggerfinger perform knows
how mind blowing their live shows are.
