To
Rococo Rot The trio
from Berlin founded in 1995 by Stefan Schneider (ex-Kreidler) and brothers Ronald
Lippok (Tarwater) and Robert Lippok indulges its own special Electro-Kraut-Rock
since the beginning. Over a decade ago the band reached the point when digital
precision and instrumental abstraction were harnessed into new directions in contemporary
music, detached and accessible. Their early albums spoke in the future imperfect
tense, highly complex but concentrated sound happenings. Especially on their latest
effort, every idea is well played-out without being exhausted too much. For the
9th album "Speculation", to be released in March 2010 on Domino, they went into
the "Klangbad Studios" of Jochen Irmler (Faust), who eventually joined in for
some parts and one whole song with his self-made organ, delivering a raw and unique
sound. In a sea of electronic washes Speculation sets itself a drift to wonder
and wander in the ether, repeating and circling in the haze, constantly shifting,
like the band's palindromic name. Especially the equipment at the Faust studios
enabled them to record almost as live band which is easily recognizable when listening
to the songs. Links
