Zammuto
The majority
might know Nick Zammuto as founding member, songwriter
and lead singer of his band 'The Books' who toured the
world this year in support of their highest selling
album 'The Way Out'. However, following this he started
spending his energy on new musical ventures, namely
his latest band 'Zammuto' which, since its formation,
constantly released new material - track by track and
featured by well-known online media like Pitchfork,
Stereogum or Tiny Mix Tapes. The approach is similarly
experimental as with 'The Books', who, according to
Pitchfork, even are 'a genre of one' and released four
highly acclaimed records. On Stage, 'Zammuto' grows
up to a four-piece line-up consisting of multi-instrumentalist
Gene Back, Drummer/Percussionist Sean Dixon, Mike Zammuto
on bass and Nick himself on vocals, guitar and electronics.
Parallels to Zammuto's former band are also obvious
when it comes to the visuals which are constantly interacting
with the music. On tour, apart from new songs, one can
also look forward to 'The Books'' classics as well as
unreleased material. In spring 2012, 'Zammuto's self-titled
debut was released on NYC-based label Temporary Residence
which is also home to bands like 'The Books' and 'Explosions
In The Sky'. In December 2011, the band also dropped
a limited edition single containing the songs "Idiom
Wind", F U C-3P0" and "Weird Ceiling" on UK label Make
Mine. First shows in Europe are to be expected in winter
2012!
